The Scaly Mountain Women’s Club Scholarship Program offers tuition reimbursement for qualifying residents of the Sky Valley-Scaly Mountain Fire District living in either Macon county North Carolina or Rabun county Georgia who are seeking post-high school education.   Scholarships may be granted for attendance at technical schools, community colleges and four year under-graduate programs.

Applicants must submit a completed scholarship application, grade transcripts, and personal references prior to the school semester for which the applicant seeks assistance.   For consideration, the student must have maintained a 2.0 GPA to be considered.  In addition to being a resident of the Sky Valley-Scaly Mountain Fire District, to be considered, the applicant must have lived in the Fire District for the two years prior to the application.  All qualifying applicants will be considered.

The applicant may receive up to $1,000.00 per semester in assistance.  Funding, however, is subject to change according to budget restrictions of the up-coming fiscal year for the club. To continue assistance each semester, the student must maintain a 2.0 GPA and either complete 12 semester hours or qualify as a full-time student in their program.  All scholarships are paid directly to the student’s school.  A recipient must complete a four year degree within a 5 year period.

If a recipient does not complete or meet guidelines in classes for which scholarship funds were provided, the recipient may be required to successfully complete another semester before scholarship funds will continue.

Adult and trade school applications will be considered on an individual basis.
